Let's get started
Total household income
This is your household's total income before tax for the previous tax year. If you're 25 or over, married, or have been supporting yourself for three years or more, it's usually just your own income (plus a partner's, if you have one). If you're under 25 and living with or supported by parents, their income is included.
Living arrangement
Where you live during term time affects how much Maintenance Loan you can get. Students living away from their parents receive more, and more again if they study in London.
I have an adult dependant
An adult dependant is usually a partner or another adult family member who relies on you financially. You may be eligible for an Adult Dependants' Grant, which doesn't need to be repaid.
I have dependent children
If you have children who rely on you financially, you may be eligible for a Parents' Learning Allowance and a Childcare Grant. Neither needs to be repaid.
I have a disability
If you have a disability, long-term health condition, mental-health condition or specific learning difficulty, you may be able to get Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). It's based on your needs, not your income, and doesn't need to be repaid.
